A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is an important part of your overall marketing and advertising plan and is a great way to kick-off a grand opening of a business. It offers an opportunity to meet key leaders in the community and get acquainted with your neighbors and chamber members. The Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce  would enjoy assisting you in planning a successful event for your business.

Your business must meet the following criteria: Opened its doors in the last 12 months;  Changed ownership or under new management;  Moved to a new location;  Has been remodeled or expanded at its present location

  • Scheduling with the chamber should take place a minimum of four weeks prior to the event. This will allow the chamber time to invite members of the Board of Directors, the ambassadors and dignitaries from the City of Tucson to join your celebration.

Where do I want to "stage" the official photo?

Choose a location/props (such as including your signage) and inform us that you would like to pose some pictures.

Who will be in the picture?

Those in attendance and of course anyone you would like such as employees, vendors, or customers.

Should we take pictures?

A representative of the Chamber will take pictures and we suggest you do too.

What does the THCC Provide?
  • Invitation to membership and/or board members, ambassadors and chamber members via an eblast (4 week notice is required)
  • Recognition and Photos on the THCC website Grand Opening page and Que Pasa? Blog
  • Recognition on THCC Facebook Fan Page and Twitter
  • Chamber Ambassadors will conduct the ceremony, complete with a 3-foot long pair of scissors. The chamber will take digital photos of the event which can be emailed at no additional cost.

What happens during the Ribbon Cutting?
The THCC staff arrives one hour prior to the ribbon cutting. During the ceremony, the Staff provides a certificate of celebration, red ribbon, oversized scissors and arrives with the THCC banner. In most cases, a THCC photographer is also on site. The owner and employees are assembled in front of the building for a photo opportunity with the THCC banner. The certificate is read to the audience and congratulations is provided.

How can the owner prepare?
The owner has many alternatives depending on the number of people who may attend.
• Invitation to elected officials and other VIP
• Invitation to entire THCC membership, Public, THCC board members, etc.
• Food (Appetizers, Pizza, Catered Meal, etc)
• Entertainment (Mariachi, DJ, Dancers, etc)
• Presentation of awards to employees
• Drinks
• Invocation
• Hiring a radio station for a “live” remote
• Press Release prior to or following the event
• Balloons / Tents / Streamers
• Eblasts to clients
